YUGE PARADISKI SKI APP REVIEW
YUGE PARADISKI SKI APP Free www.paradiski.com
Yuge is a free app offered by the Paradiski area which helps you make the most of everything from skiing to après-ski whilst in resort. We’re featuring it as an example simply because our reviewer spends his winters in the area so has plenty of direct personal experience of the app; you can expect apps offered by other resorts to be very similar, although that said Yuge apparently scores highest of all resort apps in user reviews.
It’s possible to personalise Yuge so it provides information that’s specific to your skiing ability and where you’re staying in resort, and a potentially really useful feature is real time information on lift queues (or lack of), which pistes are open and updates when lifts open and close. That said this isn’t always updated as quickly as it could be so you can’t rely on it 100 per cent, although that may – and hopefully will – change for the coming ski season.
Features include snow reports and weather forecasts, trail maps and route suggestions, location finding for both yourself and friends and an ‘SOS’ button that can be used in an emergency and tells the rescue services of your exact location on the mountain.
Yuge will also track your riding activity during your stay in Paradiski and rank it against other users, which will appeal to competitive types, and new for 18/19 is a tool allowing users to create a unique and personalised video of their ski holiday – in less than three-minutes you can create, download and share a souvenir video that mixes your own pictures and videos and some great video clips made by the resort about the places you’ve visited during your stay.
Getting all this for free is great – the only downside is that your phone has to be set to roaming to access the app, which is no problem at the moment but who knows what will happen when the lunacy that is Brexit comes to pass?
