Jay Peak in Vermont, which was of the last ski areas in Eastern North America to end its 23-24 season last month, will reopen some terrain this weekend for what they’re calling, The Solstice Session.
Jay Peak are creating a snow park, the only one east of the Rockies, for one day only, Saturday 22nd June, for a final park session before the wait begins for the start of the 24-25 season.
There are other terrain parks still in operation in North America at Copper Mountain in Colorado and at Timberline on Mt Hood in Oregon. Jay Peak's will be served by a conveyor lift.
Besides Jay Peak’s brief reopening, Quebec’s Sommet St Sauveur have announced they too will open a terrain park with snow left from last season. They’re going for six days though from next Thursday 27 June through to Wednesday 3rd July.
The Canadian resort will offer snowsports on its Avila slope with daytime sessions from 10am to 4pm and evening ones from 5 to 9pm. Daytime coaching will be on offer from a number of organisations.
