Storm Monica Brings Snowfall Bonanza to Southern Spain Ski Resort
Unexpected winter weather has blanketed Spain's southern regions, particularly the Sierra Nevada area, delivering over 40cm of fresh snowfall since the end of last week.
This surge of wintry conditions, including heavy snowfall, strong winds, and rough seas, put five Andalucía provinces on alert. The snowfall has been most significant in the Sierra Nevada mountains, while coastal areas such as Almeria, Cadiz, and Granada are contending with turbulent sea conditions.
Local reports highlighted the unusual weather in the south of Spain, attributing it to Storm Monica. The storm brought a mix of rain, snow, wind, and rough sea conditions. In the wake of the storm, the weather is gradually stabilising, with warmer temperatures toward the end of the week.
As the current webcam image shows, skiers and snowboarders in the Sierra Nevada ski resort enjoy excellent skiing conditions thanks to the recent deluge of snow.
