USA REPORT
There was big excitement in Colorado at the end of last week as low temperatures on higher terrain met a passing front to turn peaks white for the first time this fall. All of the centres that are among the world’s highest and hoping to start their 24-25 season in just over a month in October or November saw the first snow, including Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, Copper, Keystone, and Loveland, amongst others.

Most of these were already starting to position and test their snowmaking equipment before the first prolonged cold period when it's worth starting snowmaking. A-Basin reported their snowmakers were placing fan guns on High Noon with some of the hydrants deployed last week. A spokesperson said they also fill their reservoir and test pipes, pumps and plugs. There’s nowhere open in North America other than the Big Snow indoor centre in New Jersey, with the first centres likely to open in mid-October.
USA FORECAST
Mostly sunny weather for the rest of the week, but precipitation passing over mountains on Wednesday/Thursday could potentially deliver more snowfall to peaks. Temperatures are likely to dip a degree or two below freezing overnight.
