Snow News for North America

Autumn has officially arrived in the northern hemisphere, bringing with it signs of winter and raising the spirits of winter sports enthusiasts, particularly in North America. The meteorological indicators of the season show promising signs, with more snowfalls reported on high slopes in the western part of the continent.the

USA Report:
The latter half of last week brought light snowfall to high slopes in Northwestern North America, with areas in Alberta, BC, Oregon, and Montana receiving fresh snow. In Alberta, this marked the second snowfall around Banff, including Sunshine, Norquay, and Lake Louise. Snow also reached the southern parts of the continent, with Arizona Snowbowl experiencing snow on its highest slopes on the last day of August. While these conditions are fairly typical, the snowy weather appears to have passed for now. Overnight lows are nearing freezing in the high Rockies, which bodes well for the start of snowmaking later this month or in early October, provided the current trend continues. Notably, Colorado's Loveland is gearing up for its snowmaking operations, with their countdown clock edging closer to an early October start.

USA Forecast:
Clear skies are forecasted for regions anticipating ski centre openings next month or by early November. High slopes in the Colorado Rockies are expected to see overnight temperatures in the mid-30s, which means any precipitation could fall as light snow. Daytime temperatures, however, will climb back into the 60s.
