New Year-Round Freestyle Centre Opens in BC
A non-profit group based in BC, Canada, is the latest to create a year-round freestyle ski jump centre.
Silver Star Freestyle, a non-profit organization aiming to promote freestyle skiing, has commissioned the slope. It’s located at the Silver Star ski area has created the 90 metre long jump on a 29-degree slope, with skiers and boarders landing their jump on a 4m big airbag.
The jump, which uses artificial ski slope material supplied by JF DRY SKI, has been designed for professional training in the off-season. It will also play an important role in ensuring athletes have developed advanced freestyle skills before taking to the natural ground.
A smaller airbag jump next to the current one is also part of the overall project underway.
“We take pride in knowing that our surfacing will be assisting more freestyle skiers and snowboarders with their training in a safe and efficient way, and for us it’s a great honour to collaborate with Silver Star Freestyle,” A JF DRY SKI spokesperson said.
The centre is the latest in a growing number of such centres around the world.
