National Brotherhood of Skiers Gather in Colorado
The largest gathering of Black skiers, snowboarders and snowsports enthusiasts in the USA is getting underway in Keystone, Colorado this coming week.

The National Brotherhood of Snowsports (NBS), America’s (and probably the world’s) largest winter sports organization dedicated to increasing equity and inclusion and representation in snowsports today, have announced the full schedule of events for its upcoming 2025 NBS Legends and Legacy Summit.
The largest gathering of Black skiers, snowboarders and snowsports enthusiasts in the country. Taking place February 22– March 1 at Keystone Resort in Colorado, the annual Summit is a vibrant celebration of culture, community and connection advancing expanded access to winter sports and supporting athletes of color in achieving their dreams - on and off the slopes.
Since its founding in 1973, the NBS has introduced thousands of individuals from underrepresented communities to skiing and snowboarding, provided critical financial support to aspiring athletes through the NBS Olympic Scholarship Fund and built an inclusive community for winter sports enthusiasts of all ages. The Summit, the organization’s flagship event and largest annual fundraiser, carries this legacy forward by uniting 62 member clubs and thousands of participants from across the United States and internationally.

This year’s Summit features a dynamic lineup of on-mountain experiences, cultural celebrations, and community-building activities, reinforcing NBS’s continued growth and commitment to increasing access and participation in winter sports. Signature events include guided mountain tours, Snowsports clinics, game nights, après parties, NextGen activities and concerts. The full schedule of events is available online.
“The NBS Legends and Legacy Summit is more than a gathering—it’s a catalyst for change in winter sports,” said Henri Rivers, President of the National Brotherhood of Snowsports. “By bringing together generations of Black skiers and snowboarders, we are not only celebrating history but actively shaping the future of equity and inclusion in the industry. Through mentorship, skill development and advocacy, we are ensuring that more athletes of color have access to the resources and opportunities to succeed at the highest levels of competition.”
With a comprehensive lineup of activities for all ages and skill levels, key Summit highlights include:
· Opening Ceremony & Parade – A powerful kickoff to the Summit, bringing together the entire community in celebration.
· Gospelfest – An uplifting evening of music and fellowship.
· Chic Sneaker Ball (tickets required) – A stylish and spirited night of recognition and celebration.
· Themed Happy Hours & Networking Events – Opportunities to connect and strengthen relationships across the Snowsports industry.

By attending the Summit, participants directly support the NBS, increase access to winter sports, champion equity and inclusion in the industry and fund scholarships for athletes of color aspiring to compete internationally. Proceeds from the Summit benefit the NBS Olympic Scholarship Fund, which has helped countless athletes pursue their dreams while inspiring new generations to see themselves in winter sports.
