HELLY HANSEN MAROI WOMEN'S SKI JACKET REVIEW
Helly Hansen Women’s Maroi ski jacket £500 www.hellyhansen.com
This bomb-proof jacket from Helly Hansen is packed with features and built to withstand all that you and the winter can throw at it.
The outer is made from super tough waterproof/breathable Helly Tech Professional fabric which, say the manufacturers, will over time ‘…create a personalised look much like your favourite jeans’ – not essential, of course, but it’s quite nice to have a jacket which develops an individual ‘patina’ of use after a season or two.
There’s an integrated and removable 3D mesh ‘H2Flow’ vest in bright orange and black for use on colder days – it’s light and takes up very little space so can easily be stashed in your pack when not needed – whilst another nifty addition is the innovative ‘Life Pocket+’, which helps to preserve battery life on your phone or other electronic device.
The Maroi’s helmet-compatible hood has a high-vis brim whilst the high collar has a microfleece lining for added warmth and comfort. The outer pockets (two chest, two hand) are backpack friendly and there’s also a small inner stash pocket, although surprisingly no internal security pocket – this is the only thing that HH appear to have missed off this otherwise feature-packed jacket.
Other essential features of this serious all-mountain jacket include extra-large wrist cuffs for a secure fit between jacket and gloves, jacket to pant snaps on the powder skirt, pit zips and a Recco reflector.
If you want a jacket with all the whistles and bells that should last several seasons of hard use, the Maroi is well worth checking out.
