‘Gwyneth Vs Terry: The Ski Crash Trial’ Coming to TV
Warner Bros. Discovery UK & Ireland has revealed they’ve commissioned a TV documentary ‘Gwyneth Vs Terry: The Ski Crash Trial’ based on the high profile court case over the 2016 on-slope collision between actress Gwyneth Paltrow and retired doctor Terry Sanderson at Deer Valley, Utah.
Production company Optomen, whose previous programmes include “Johnny vs Amber,” and “Kim vs Kanye: The Divorce”), are making the dramatization as part of the their “Vs” series for Discovery+.
Sanderson unsuccessfully sued Paltrow over the collision in a civil trial this spring and she counter-sued him back, the case making mainstream media headlines around the world as it progressed.
Sanderson alleged that Paltrow collided with him causing him permanent traumatic brain injury. Paltrow counter-sued claiming that he was the one who crashed into her. She sought nominal damages of one dollar, as well as repayment of her legal fees, Sanderson claimed damages of $300,000. The jury found that Paltrow was not at fault, Sanderson was at fault, and awarded Paltrow the $1 in damages.
Clare Laycock, SVP Head of Content, Networks & Streaming at WBD UK & Ireland, said: “We’re excited about the breadth of this latest slate of commissioned programmes, across discovery+ and linear, which span our viewers’ most-loved genres.”
