French Ski Areas Announce 2025 Summer Ski Plans
Les 2 Alpes

Three French ski areas have announced their opening plans in May, June and July after the winter season ends on May 4th.

Les 2 Alpes has taken over from Tignes (which was once open for skiing 365 days a year, then at least one day every month of the year, but is now down to about six months in total), as having the longest season in France.

Les 2 Alpes now aims to stay open for just over seven months, non-styop, and from, May 5th on and the first few weeks of June is the only centre open in France.

This year it says that after its winter season ends on May 5th, up to the 28th it will aim to maintain 1000 vertical metres of skiing between 3 600d to 2600m.  Then for the final six weeks of its season from May 29 to July 6 that terrain will reduce to a 400m vertical at the very top of the slopes between 3,600 to 3,200m.  The resort’s summer snowpark will be open from May 5 to July 6.

Val d’Isère will open for summer skiing on its Pisaillas glacier for four weeks from Saturday June 7th to Sunday July 6, continuing a tradition that began in the late 1960s.

Skiing is possible on three runs located between 3300 and 2725m altitudes with another four runs reserved for race team training. The Montets drag lift accesses the highest point in Val d’Isère at an altitude of 3,197 metres. Parking is available at the foot of the glacier accessible from the Col de l’Iseran, where there’s a lift pass sales office and a restaurant open.

Neighbouring Tignes will be the last to open and final area open in France this summer, with four weeks of operations planned from 21 June to 20 July.  The Grande Motte glacier has slopes at an altitude of nearly 3000 m.

Up to 20 km of glacier runs are available between 3,456 m and 2,724 m and you can also cross-country ski here and sunbathe once you’re dome skiing at the resort’s Panoramic terrace.
