A growing number of Canadian ski areas are set to offer $18.67 day lift tickets on Wednesday, April 2nd.
1867 is the year that Canada became a country, April 2nd is the day U.S. President Trump is scheduled to implement tariffs.
The idea was initiated earlier this week by Alberta's Mt. Norquay at Banff. Several more ski areas include BC’s Apex and Big White have joined the initiative so far.
“You will be able to hit Big White Ski Resort next Wednesday for a remarkably patriotic price. As a Canadian resort owned and operated in British Columbia we're taking this opportunity to remind every one of the Confederation of Canada in 1867. The true north strong and free," Big White president and CEO Peter Plimmer said adding,
"We're doing this on a day when many Canadians may be feeling concern for the future as the USA's tariffs take effect, and we'll use these funds raised to support local causes in our community. …we are encouraging all other Canadian resorts to get on board and take part in the promotion."

Apex also announced $18.67 lift tickets next Wednesday, April 2nd.
“As a response to the tariffs implemented by Trump, that are to take place on Wednesday April 2nd, we are announcing lift tickets for April 2nd to be $18.67. The Gunbarrel will be putting on drink specials (Canadian of course), and a special on poutine. Come dressed in your Canadian colours, wear a Canadian flag, or just bring your Canadian spirit, and help us celebrate Canada on April 2nd,” a spokesperson said.
