California's 23-24 Ski Season Starts Friday
At least two Californian ski areas plan to open for the 23-24 season this Friday, 10th November.
Mt. Rose and Mammoth have both confirmed opening of initially limited terrain. Both have had several inches of fresh snowfall over the past few days.
Mt Rose published the image above on Tuesday, stating, “It’s official! We are opening Lakeview Express THIS FRIDAY to begin the 2023/24 season precisely one day earlier than last season. Keep a lookout for more terrain to become available as we continue to make the flakes and ramp up for another fantastic season at Mt. Rose -Ski Tahoe.”
Mammoth only ended their 22-23 season, one of their longest ever thanks to exceptional snowfall, in August, three months ago. They say they’ll announce what will be open on Friday shortly but have stated they know already that there won’t be any beginner runs open.
Other Californian areas plan to open in the coming weeks with Heavenly, Northstar and Boreal targeting a week on Friday (November 17th) and Palisades Tahoe targeting Wednesday November 22nd.
Fresh snowfall is forecast for higher Californian ski slopes next week.
