Following huge snowfalls in California at the end of March, with some centres posting as much as four feet (1.2m) of snowfall, it's been the turn of The Rockies to report significant fresh snowfall in the first few days of April.

Colorado's Arapahoe Basin (one of the world's highest ski areas that normally stays open into June) and the Arizona Snowbowl were amongst ski areas posting 18" (45cm) or more over 72 hours and "midwinter conditions" in the first days of April. Many other ski areas in the region reported 1-2 feet of snowfall in the same period.

Ski areas is Utah are currently posting the deepest snow in the region with Alta and Snowbird both reporting their snow lying more than 10 feet (3 metres) deep up top.

Despite the wintery start to April though there's no holding back springtime with the weather now becoming much sunnier, warmer and drier and some big name ski areas starting to end their 24-25 seasons from this weekend.
