Aussie Slopes Get Big Dump
Australia’s ski slopes have seen big snowfalls over the past few days and with skies due to clear whilst temperatures stay low it’s looking like a powder weekend for many.
Hotham in Victoria province (pictured above and bottom) reported the biggest snowfall with 24cm in 24 hours taking its base past the metre mark to 102cm, believed to be the first resort in the country to do so this winter.
Perisher and Thredbo in New South Wales reported slightly smaller accumulations and that their bases are up to 99cm apiece.
If days were like songs, today would be on repeat!

The Australian snow follows some good snowfalls in South America earlier this week which saw Portillo in Chile post 35cm of fresh snow in the past 72 hours and Caviahue in Argentina report abase up to 1.7m, the deepest in the southern hemisphere so far.
There’s also been fresh snow reported on ski slopes in Southern Africa and a few centimetres for New Zealand ski areas too in the past few days.
