August Snowfall in US & Canada
An unusual weather system has led to some early season snowfall this weekend on mountains along the US West Coast.

Mammoth Mountain in the south, ski areas around Lake Tahoe including Northstar and Mt Bachelor up in Oregon are among areas posting images of a light snow covering.
There's currently nowhere open for snowsports in North America, unless you include the indoor Big SNOW centre in New Jersey. The last area that had still be open for its 23-24 season, Timberline in Oregon, closed a week ago and the first centres opening for 24-25 are not expected to do so for another few months. In other case the current snow dusting is likely to be short lived.
Snowfall was also reported a few days ago in the Canadian Rockies with Sunshine, near Banff, which plans to start its season in about 10 weeks on November 8th, posting images of a similar light snow dusting on its high slopes too.
