JAPAN REPORT
Another mostly good news week for Japan’s ski areas, with temperatures remaining low and snow still falling in abundance – so, in other words, the powder train continues its 24-25 journey. Myoko’s Arai (200/418cm / 80/167”) continues to post the deepest snowpack in the country and the world, the only one to have topped the 4-meter (13.3 feet) mark. Of the big-name resorts, Hakuba’s Happo One (250/360cm / 100/144”) has the deepest base. Niseko (115/240cm / 46/96”) is in great shape and reports its slopes 100% open.
JAPAN FORECAST
Significant snowfall is forecast for the remainder of this week, with 20-30cm (8-12") accumulations possible every 24-hour cycle. A potential metre-plus (40”+) of fresh snowfall is likely for some centres by the start of next week when the skies currently look like they should clear. Temperatures in the freezing to -10C range.
