JAPAN REPORT

Winter is on track in Japan, with another week of predominantly snowy weather adding 30-60cm (1-2 feet) to bases over the last seven days. Saturday brought some of the most significant snowfalls of the winter so far, with Nozawa Onsen (100/135cm / 40/56") posting 47cm (19") in 24 hours.

Otherwise, there have been some snowy spells, and temperatures have remained mainly in the -5 to -25C range, keeping everything fresh and that famous powder dry and light.  Niseko continues to post some of the deepest snow in the country and the world, and around 90% of its terrain is open now, again amongst the best in the world.

JAPAN FORECAST

Another round of heavy snowfall is expected to end the week on December Friday/Saturday 27–28, followed by clearer skies with occasional flurries leading into the New Year. This should provide a mix of fresh snow and scenic skiing conditions over the coming week.
